After months of communicating back and forth, the R.M. has officially signed new fire agreements with the Village of McLean and the Town of Qu’Appelle. The agreements will not be in affect until August 19th, 2018 due to the fact that the R.M. wanted to have 30 days to notify our ratepayers of the new rates. They are as follows:

Village of McLean:

Call out fee – $1,500

RM Truck – $500 per hour

Town Truck – $500 per hour

Town Rescue Unit – $500 per hour

Man Hours – $25 per man per hour

The maximum amount as combined by responding Volunteer Fire Departments shall be $25,000.

Town of Qu’Appelle:

Call out fee – $1,500

RM Truck – $500 per hour

Town Truck – $500 per hour

Town Rescue Unit – $500 per hour

Man Hours – $25 per man per hour

The maximum amount as combined by responding Volunteer Fire Departments shall be $25,000.

For both agreements, the following statements also apply:

  • For second fire calls which occur within 24 hours of the initial fire call, the basic call-out fee shall be waived. The trucks and man power shall be charged.
  • For fire calls where a ratepayer has called in a controlled burn, but the Fire Department is still dispatched, all fees shall be waived other than the manpower fee of $25 per man per hour. The manpower fee shall be paid by the R.M. if the fire occurred in the R.M.

The R.M. strongly recommends that you contact your insurance company to determine if you are covered for the maximum $25,000, should you ever experience large loss due to a fire. Please pass this information on to as many ratepayers as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact the R.M., Village or Town should you have any questions regarding the agreement.
